Pessara is a partner based in our Munich office. With more than 22 years experience, Dr. Pessara combines unique expertise as a scientist with extensive business, operational and financial experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries.
Experience
Prior to joining JSB-Partners, Dr. Pessara was a co-founder
and Chief Development Officer of Xantos Biomedicine,
a Munich-based biotech company, where he was responsible
for business development and strategic development.
Previously, he was a director of program management
for international biotechnology alliances at F. Hoffmann-La
Roche. During that time, he served as a managing director
and board member in several international joint venture
biotech companies based variously in San Diego, CA,
Milan, Italy and Hanover, Germany. Before Roche, Dr.
Pessara was with Boehringer Mannheim, where he was responsible
for biopharmaceutical drug development. Prior to joining
the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, Dr.
Pessara had an active academic career in molecular immunology.
Boards
Dr. Pessara is a member of the Investment Committee
of the State Bank of Saxony, Germany and a member of
the board of directors of JADO Technologies GmbH and
Novoplant GmbH. He has served on the scientific advisory
boards of the Cell Therapy Center, Germany, and Molecular
Medicine LLC, in San Diego, CA.
Education
Dr. Pessara earned a BS at the University of Cologne,
Germany, a PhD at the German Cancer Research Center
in Heidelberg, Germany and held a postdoctoral position
at the University of Strasbourg, France.
