Tamar Howson joined our team after 20 years as a corporate and business development executive for several large pharmaceutical companies, where she also managed a large corporate venture fund. Ms. Howson’s experience in licensing, collaborations, and M&A spans close to 100 transactions of all sizes across the life science industry.
Experience
Ms. Howson held the position of Senior Vice President of Corporate and Business development at both SmithKline Beecham (now GSK) and Bristol-Myers Squibb. She held senior positions at Squibb Pharmaceuticals, the biotechnology company Lexicon Pharmaceuticals and the venture capital company, Johnston Associates. She also managed SR One, the SmithKline Beecham venture fund. Over the course of her career she has managed the identification, evaluation, and negotiation of in- and out- licensing deals, M&A transactions, and venture capital investments. She has been an advisor to several biotech companies and a member of advisory boards.
Boards
Ms. Howson currently serves on the board of Idenix Pharmaceuticals, S*Bio and OXiGENE and is a member of the advisory board to Triana Venture Partners. She previously served on the boards of Ariad Pharmaceuticals, BiolineRx, SkyePharma, NPS Pharma, Targacept and HBA - she was the 1999 HBA (Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association) Women of the Year.
Education
Ms. Howson earned a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Technion in Haifa, Israel, an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from City College of New York, and an MBA in Finance, International Business and Marketing from Columbia University.
