Christopher de Souza, PhD, MBA
Christopher de Souza is a biopharmaceutical business development and strategy executive with over 18 years of experience in the industry. Christopher was most recently Vice President of Business Development for SkyePharma, a UK based drug delivery company where he was responsible for global business development activities related to the out-licensing of SkyePharma’s clinical assets and drug delivery technologies.
Experience
Prior to joining SkyePharma in 2007, Christopher was Director of Strategic Alliances at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research in Cambridge, where he was responsible for strategy, external collaborations, alliances and in-licensing activities for the diabetes, cardiovascular and infectious research groups and several technology related areas. Christopher has a wealth of knowledge in the drug discovery and development area having served as a member of the Metabolic and Cardiovascular Diseases Research team at Novartis, between 1995 and 2000, where he was responsible for in vivo related activities related to the discovery and development of compounds for the treatment of diabetes and related metabolic diseases and participated in the development and approval of 2 drugs to market.
Christopher received his MBA from Rutgers University and his PhD in physiology from Louisiana State University along with post-doctoral training at “The Upjohn Company” and the Joslin Diabetes Center/Harvard Medical School.
Christopher is well networked in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries and serves on several advisory boards and co-chairs the Business Development committee at the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council. He is currently a founder at Quantum Technology Group and Strategic Advisor and CBO at Metaome.
